Whitlow Tithe Barn: thatched roof buildings and trees under a cloudy sky

Barn

Whitlow Tithe Barn

Oxfordshire, England

A fourteenth-century tithe barn with oak trusses, a cobbled yard and a meadow that turns gold by late August.

Our filming notes

The barn is dark inside, which films beautifully once the festoon lights are on. We light the top table with two small panels so speeches stay warm and clean. The meadow path behind the barn is our favourite place for portraits.

Best light

The meadow faces south-west: best from 6.30pm in September.

If it rains

The cart shed has an open front and covers forty guests.

Planner’s tip

Keep the confetti exit in the yard; the cobbles bounce the light up into faces.
