An old honey-stone Cotswolds manor house with a white door, clipped box hedges and a lime avenue, summer evening

/

Estate

Aldcot Manor

Cotswolds, England

A honey-stone manor at the end of a lime avenue, with a walled garden that holds the evening light longer than anywhere else on the estate.

Our filming notes

Ceremonies are in the walled garden, facing west, so the vows are backlit from about four o’clock. We set the main camera on the left of the aisle to catch both faces. The library is the best rain room: tall windows, soft north light.

Best light

Golden hour lands on the lime avenue around 8.15pm in June.

If it rains

The library and the long gallery.

Planner’s tip

Ask for the orangery for speeches; the acoustics are kinder than the great hall.
